Professor Donna Cross is the founder and chief researcher of Friendly Schools, the first anti-bullying initiative for schools developed through extensive research with Australian children and adolescents. The initiative draws on 13 major longitudinal research projects initiated and led by Donna and her team, involving 27,000 Australian school students.

Donna is a Winthrop Professor at the Telethon Kids Institute at the University of Western Australia and an adjunct professor at Edith Cowan University and Curtin University. In 2012, she was named Western Australia's Australian of the Year in recognition of her work to improve the health and wellbeing of young people.

Donna has an international reputation for developing and rigorously testing school-based interventions that contribute to sustainable changes in policy and practice. She currently has six large longitudinal research projects underway that aim to build the capacity of school leaders, teachers, parents and students in the areas of social and emotional wellbeing; bullying and cyberbullying prevention and management; online safety; and childhood anxiety and depression prevention.
